Shaughnessy Village is the area bordered by Guy, Sherbrooke, Atwater and the Ville-Marie Expressway.

The Village is named after the Shaughnessy Mansion, located on Réne- Lévesque West, between DuFort and St-Marc. It was the home of Lord Shaughnessy, the Third president of Canadian Pacific Railways. The mansion is now part of the Canadian Centre for Architecture.

Shaughnessy Village is a small and charming community located within the larger City of Montreal. It includes all the elements of a village, for instance, single family, duplex and triplex homes, small/medium/large apartment buildings of various vintages, hotels, schools, a museum, restaurants and bars, a variety of stores, office buildings, churches, parks, gyms, and in autumn 2023 a community center.

These elements are put together in such a way that it is possible to be on a busy and noisy commercial street one moment and by turning a corner and walking a block, one is on a quiet residential street with mature trees overhead and buildings dating from the late 1800's.

The Village’s population of 10,000 represents a broad socio-economic range that includes professionals, business people, families, students, senior citizens and unemployed individuals. This eclectic mix creates an interesting and democraticenvironment.

The essence of the area is characterized by the Shaughnessy Village Association. It brings together a variety of Villagers who participate in events such as the annual Clean-up Day, and other various social events. These events give a cohesive identity to the area, provide opportunities for liaison of Village interests with those of various departments of municipal and provincial government, and generally improve the physical environment and quality of life in the Village.
